
The 2026 Kilimanjaro Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Moshi, Tanzania. This annual event, known as “The People’s Race,” takes place at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and serves as an official qualifier for the Comrades Marathon.Â
Race Categories & Start Times
The event features three main distances, all starting and finishing at or near the MoCU Stadium in Moshi:Â
- Full Marathon (42.2km): Starts at 06:30 AM. The route features a challenging uphill climb of roughly 290m over the first 8km toward the mountain before heading back down.
- Half Marathon (21.1km): Starts at 07:00 AM. Follows a similar uphill-then-downhill route as the full marathon.
- Fun Run (5km): Starts at 07:30 AM.Â
Registration Details
- Status: Online entries opened on October 20, 2025.
- Deadline: The final registration deadline is February 20, 2026.
- How to Enter: Registration is available through the official website or via the Mixx by YAS app.
- Bib Collection: Participants must collect their race numbers in person. Collection venues include Dar es Salaam (March 13–15), Arusha (March 17–18), and Moshi (March 19–21).Â

Travel & Logistics
- Location: Moshi, Tanzania, approximately 8 hrs from Nairobi.
- Accommodation: It is highly recommended to book hotels early as Moshi typically reaches full capacity during race weekend.
- Travel Packages: East Africa Shuttles and Safaris will offer 3-night packages including accommodation at Zebra Hotel Moshi Nairobi-Moshi-Nairobi shuttle bus tickets and private transpportÂ
- Elevation: The race is run between 830m and 1150m above sea level on paved roads
