Top Safari Destinations from Mombasa

  • Tsavo National Park

This is the largest national park in Kenya, and it has two separate parts Tsavo East and Tsavo West. It is home to elephants, lions, giraffes, and many more. The red soil in Tsavo makes them appear reddish. It is the best destination for anyone seeking an unfiltered safari experience with vast landscapes and diversified wildlife. Of course, there are famous Mzima Springs that contain very clear waters with hippos and crocodiles enjoying the waters.

  • Amboseli National Park

Home to its evergreen elephant herds and has the best view of Mount Kilimanjaro, it is a perfect place for photographers and wildlife spotters alike. There are also cheetahs, zebras, and many avian species in the park. With the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Amboseli makes it one of Africa’s most beautiful safari destinations.

  • The Masai Mara National Reserve

Somewhat farther from Mombasa lies the then-worthy Masai Mara. It is famous for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras traverse the plains. This worldwide event takes between July and October, attracting tourists very much all over the world; if one is lucky enough, they can witness a dramatic river crossing where animals risk their lives by crossing into green pastures through crocodile-infested waters.

  • Shimba Hills National Reserve

For a shorter trip, Shimba Hills is perfect. It is very close to Mombasa and has rare antelopes, elephants, and green forests. Shimba Hills gives a more intimate and peaceful safari experience as compared to the rest of the parks. One can also explore the marvelous Sheldrick Falls, a hidden treasure inside the reserve.
